Fatigue - day one

Fatigue is a state of mind where enthusiasm for life is low due to routine or too many responsibilities. Over a period of time stress and sluggishness builds up in the body and one's energy levels are permanently lower to such an extent that we get used to it not realising that the body is functioning at hardly 20 - 30 per cent of its potential. These exercises are designed to refresh and rejuvenate you so that your energy levels start climbing upwards.

CAUTION: Those suffering from sciatica, slipped disc or serious back conditions, should avoid Exercise 1 and 2 and take care while doing Exercise 3.

•   Exercise 1

• Lie flat on your back, with arms beside you

• Inhale. Exhale as you bend your right knee towards your chest, with foot pointing forward

• Interlock the fingers below the knee and bring the knee close to the chest

• Hold the position for a few seconds, breathing normally and relax the back

• Go back to the start position

• Repeat with your left leg, then go back to the start position.

Exercise 2

•   Exercise 2

• Lie flat on back, with arms beside you

• Inhale. Exhale and draw both your knees to your chest

• Exhale, push back on your arms and raise your hips up

• Tuck your chin towards the chest and look at your navel

• Keep heels flat on the floor

• Hold for 10-30 seconds, breathing normally
