Stiffness - day ten
Exercises to relax your neck
Unfortunately, the neck bears the brunt of all the stress that we take onto ourselves. If you notice, it's the jaw and neck that go stiff and tight first, when you're stressed. And this can lead to spondulosis if you do not practice stretching exercises. Practise these neck exercises to keep it free of pain.
Exercise 1

Exercise 1
• Sit with your legs stretched out and back straight
• Bend one leg, place the ankle on the opposite thigh, close to the groin. Bend the other leg and place that ankle on the thigh of the bent leg, close to the groin. Place your hands on your knees (padmasana)
• Slowly move the head back, as far as is comfortable
• Slowly bring the head up and move it forward so that the chin touches the chest
• Repeat 10 times.
Exercise 2

Exercise 2
• Sit in padmasana
• Gently turn the head towards your left so that the chin is in line with your shoulders
• Now gently turn the head to the right.
Exercise 3

Exercise 3
• Slowly rotate the head clockwise — down to the chest, then to the right, now backward, and to the left — in a relaxed, smooth, rhythmic and circular movement
• Now, gently rotate it anti-clockwise, that is, in the opposite direction.
